HIU’s Secondary Cities team is hosting—in collaboration with the American Association of Geographers, EIS-Africa, and Esri South Africa—a technical exchange for our Secondary Cities Africa network project partners. It will be held June 26-30 in Midrand, South Africa.

2nd Mapathon @ AAG
This is the 2nd year that Mapathons and Mapathon related activities were hosted at the American Association of Geographers (AAG) Annual Meeting. Attendees joined a community of online mappers and contributed to five different OpenStreetMap (OSM) projects supporting humanitarian and development efforts.

Map Africa for a brighter future
Map data is key to humanitarian and development missions. On March 14, in partnership with the Millennium Challenge Corporation and the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, HIU will participate in a mapathon to improve map data in Cote d’Ivoire, Tanzania, and Togo.
